Make-up and cake : perfect combo for a lovely afternoon.

I have always been quiet into make-up since I was young, but in the last few years watching make-up tutorials on You Tube really made it become a passion. I get inspired everyday, trying new things and playing with colours and brushes which I love, but what I was very curious about was to test my make-up skills on other people than myself.

Well last Saturday I was lucky enough to be asked by one of the most beautiful ladies I know, to
do her make-up for a wedding she was attending.

My friend Asma is a genuine natural beauty and she doesn't usually wear much make-up.
She asked me to create smokey eyes but with a very natural foundation and nude lips.
Being my first time experience doing a "make-over" and with a small amount of time available (we had a proper catch up first with tea and cake and we completely lost track of time), I was very excited but a bit concerned to whether I could do her justice and make sure she was happy with the results.
And ta-da!! This is what came out after roughly 45 minutes..

To me she looks gorgeous no matter what, but I was quiet pleased with the results and this it what I've done:

To start with, I prepped her face using some primer (Asma had some moisturiser already on her face). I also put some eye cream underneath her eyes and some lip balm on her lips to make sure her they were hydrated by the time she put the lipstick on.

EYES :

Under her eyes I used concealer to cover some of dark circle and on her eyelid I used my fingers to apply primer to make sure the colour was uniform and to give the eyeshadow something to stick to make sure it lasted as long as possible for her special evening.
I opted for a matt brown and blue smokey eye look with a tin line of black eyeliner to give more definition to the eyes and add a bit of shimmer on the middle of the eye lid to give her eyes a nice glow. Of course the final touches of curling her lashes and black mascara were essential.

BROWS :

I gave more definition to her brows using a matt dark brown eye shadow.

FACE :

I used a mineral foundation for a more natural look, powder to uniform the texture for long lasting finish, bronzer to define her face and a pink blusher to add some colour on her face and a bit of highlighter on her cheeks.

LIPS :

I used a nude eye pencil to define the lips and a mix of 2 lipstick to get the perfect nude / pinky lip colour.

When I'd finished applying the make-up I was shocked with how many products I had laying on the table but I must say I really really enjoyed the process and our whole afternoon together, plus seeing Asma happy with her look is the best thing I could wish for.

I will definitely try some new looks soon again with the beautiful Asma (she promised me more cake, how can I refuse?) so stay tuned for more make-up and if you are curious to know more on of the details for the products I've used, please leave a message on the comments box and I would be happy to answer :)

And you ladies, do you use so many products in your daily make-up routines? Do you usually go for smokey eyes and nude lips or shimmery eyes and very bold lips?
Can't wait to read your comments!

PS: Apologies for the photographs, don't look great. I have used my phone but I promise better pics will come soon :)
