Isis Essentials Natural Organic Skincare Blends introduces White Willow Elixir - Toning Elixir

Isis Essentials White Willow Elixir -Toning Elixir
*PR Sample from Lypsso.com

I have always been intrigued by legends and myths, I think it is because since I was a child I always had a very fervid imagination. I remember being into fairytales and books of magic, loosing myself in the words and the stories I was reading, picturing myself with magical powers and dealing with enchanted forests, dragons, poisons and obviously looking for my prince on a white horse (cheesy but true).

As soon as I read the name of the beauty product that kindly has been sent me by Lypsso.com (have a look at their new website!), I have immediately went back of 20 years: White Willow Toning Elixir.

Quoting the life saviour (mine at least) Wikipedia, the word Elixir comes from the Greek word "Xerion" which means "powder for drying wounds" and is a clear, sweet liquid used for medicinal purposes which intended to cure those who are ill.

The mythological White Hare making the elixir of immortality on the Moon, from East Asian mythology.

( Ok guys if you are stopping reading this blog post now....I DON'T BLAME YOU!..but please don't, now it get's interesting )

This beauty elixir though, promises you the benefits of a face peel without irritating your skin. How?
Isis Essential Natural Organic Skincare Blend has created the first toner that includes both peptide and a stem cell ingredients. The result? the White Willow Toning Elixir that as a  toner tightens your pores and tones your skin without irritating it.

I have been using on and off this toning elixir from a couple of weeks now and this is because I am not a big fan of toner generally. When I use them my skin feels tighter but always very dry as well which I don't like. However I have decided to give this a try and see if the Isis Essential was living up to expectations. I have been spraying it on a cotton pad and applying to my face after I have removed my make up before going to bed.

Well my face felt toned and tight after the first use which was incredible and I was very surprised. But...yes there is a but. After few uses, I have noticed some dry patches on my face and my skin feeling tighter and tighter which makes me feel a bit uncomfortable.

So I got curious to see what was in my special elixir. Some of the ingredients are natural and very good, but a couple of them are things that I would avoid and they are: Phenoxyethanol (a solvent / preservative) and EDTA ( a complexing agent / preserving ) and I wasn't expecting to find both those ingredients in a natural brand.

I do think this may change from person to person and as I said I am not a fan on toners anyway, but I would be curious to know if any of you have tried this product before and what are the general thoughts :)

Please leave a comment below and let me know if you are using any beauty elixir or if you can suggest any!

In the meantime, have a magical evening everyone!

Ila x

  1. I think it's that you are so honest in your review, I have encountered phenoxyethanol and EDTA in natural nased products as preservatives but not sure why you need both, that seems excessive. I use hydrating toners for sensitive skin never anything too harsh. Xx

    1. Hello Ana :)
Thanks for your comment..I know I was wondering the same, why both? To try to understand better the ingredients I use http://www.cosmetic-check.com/inci_gb.php and it gives both as chemicals, one a little bit better than the other :/

  2. Hi girls, Thank you very much for your comments. I think they are very constructive. I passed on your comments to Isis Essentials founder, Patricia. She gave the following information which I thought you would be interested in:

Phenoxyethanol is found naturally in green tea and chicory. EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) is an amino acid compound, a powerful chelating agent - meaning it attaches to plaque build up and heavy metals and removes them naturally from the body. EDTA is recognized by the body and easily assimilated.

I hope you find it useful and please let me know if you have any questions regarding the product or its ingredients.

  4. Hey, Patricia also sent me a little more information on what may have caused your skin to peel.

"The tightening effect is a good thing and just takes a little while for some to get used to. The toner gives the tightening and resurfacing effect of a peel without the major peeling effect of a standard peel. Because of that resurfacing effect the skin can feel a little dryer for a while and that can be adjusted by using our light moisturizer. My skin did not dryer using the toner so it seems to be an individual thing. The toner is actually a treatment product rather than being a traditional toner that just balances skin pH. We have to be one of few companies that turned the toner into a true treatment product so that takes a little education for the user."

I hope you find it useful :)

  5. I've not tried this before but it sounds interesting! Although I'd be worried about peeling skin, as I have dry skin to begin with :( xx

I do too and I have a very sensitive skin, that's why I don't use toner usually.

I keep hearing that Phenoxyethanol is bad so need to do some research on that.
